Mountain Biking & Cycling
The Portes du Soleil region offers world class mountain bike terrain with over 850KM of marked trials with an extensive lift system open all summer (23 in total). For cross country and free ride there are hundreds of miles of single and fire track trials, taking you on descents through Alpine meadows, forests, rivers and stunning lakeside backdrops in both France and Switzerland.
The Down hillers are extremely well catered for with many man made courses including the world class downhill courses in Morzine and Les Gets! From Morzine the Pleney and Super Morzine gondola give easy access to miles of signposted routes for all levels of rider. These are colour coded in the same way as ski runs (green, blue, and red, black) according to difficulty.
Bike and equipment hire is available from many of the sports shops in town. Skimor guests enjoy a 10% discount from the Ski warehouse just a few minutes from the Chalet.
Lift passes are excellent value with prices much lower than the winter season (if you keep your winter pass you can gain a further reduction!) Please see the tourist site for up to date prices.
Road Riding
Road riders are in the middle of some of the famous Tour de France assents. The Col de Joux Plane, made famous by Lance Armstrong. Morzine has played host to stage finishes in the past.
You can try to beat Hinault’s record climb from Morzine to Avoriaz (33 mins)
In general the roads are quiet and motorists very ‘cycle friendly’
Bike Attitude
Special bikes with low pressure wheels, disc brake on rear and no pedals, great fun for downhill thrills – All can have a go as long as you can ride a bike and are over 1.5m Tall. Situated on the Crot ski slope that links Avoriaz and the Ardoisieres valley.
